A former Michigan State football assistant coach has reportedly landed himself a spot on a SEC staff.

Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported on Monday evening that former Michigan State assistant coach Chad Wilt is "expected" to be hired by Kentucky as their next linebackers coach. Wilt most recently served as the co-special teams coordinator/rush ends coach at Michigan State.

Wilt was at Michigan State for the last two seasons, coming to the Spartans with former head coach Jonathan Smith in 2024. Prior to his time at Michigan State, Wilt had stops at Indiana (2022-23), Minnesota (2020-21), Cincinnati (2019), Army (2016-18), Maryland (2014-15) and Ball State (2011-13).

Per Zenitz, Wilt has previously worked with new Kentucky defensive coordinator Jay Bateman at Army and Ball State.
