A former Michigan State starting defensive back will be heading to the Mid-American Conference for his final year of college football.

Former Spartan and Northwestern transfer Dillon Tatum announced on Tuesday that he has committed to Miami (OH). Tatum made the transfer commitment to the Redhawks known by posting on his social media X account.

Tatum played his first three seasons at Michigan State from 2022 to 2024, appearing in 22 games with the Spartans. His junior season was shortened due a season ending injury in 2024, and he then hit the transfer portal after the season where he landed at Northwestern.

With the Wildcats this season, he appeared in 12 games. He recorded 17 tackles and one pass defended this year.

There was a potential reunion of Tatum and the Spartans this offseason, with Michigan State heavily in the market for defensive backs. But that won't be the case with Tatum going down to the group of five level where he should see an uptick in playing time next season.
