Former Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs lands with Packers ahead of NFC playoffs

The NFL is an arms race, and you can never have enough talent at the cornerback position when you'll face the Rams, Bears, Seahawks, and potentially the 49ers at some point in the playoffs. The Cowboys are waiving star cornerback Trevon Diggs. If he went unclaimed on waivers, he was set to become a free agent.

The move comes just two years after the team signed Diggs to a five-year, $97 million extension. Before an ACL tear, Diggs had been a Pro Bowler twice and was an All-Pro in 2021, when he led the NFL with 11 interceptions.

Looking to find familiarity, Diggs is reuniting with Micah Parsons and will sign with the Green Bay Packers.

Since the ACL tear, Diggs has played just 21 games over three years, and when he has played, he has been statistically among the league's worst corners. In 2025, when active, Diggs allows a passer rating of 152.7 when targeted by opposing quarterbacks, according to Pro Football Reference.
