Florida State football transfer portal prospects: Who's visiting?

The NCAA transfer portal is officially open.

For the next two weeks, Florida State football will be active as it hosts transfer prospects, beginning this weekend.

Now that the Seminoles have hired a general manager, John Garrett, FSU will look to add impact players. Several prospects are expected on campus. Here are some to watch:

John Walker, defensive lineman, UCF

UCF defensive tackle John Walker missed the 2024 season with a torn meniscus, but he is expected to be a key player as a redshirt sophomore.

John Walker, a 6-foot-4, 324-pound defensive lineman from Kissimmee, is expected to visit this weekend. With Darrell Jackson Jr. gone, Walker could fill a key role in Tony White’s defense alongside the Desir twins.

Walker played two seasons at UCF, totaling 59 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one pass deflection and a forced fumble. He redshirted in 2024 and returned this past season, finishing with 39 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack.

Bryant Williams, offensive tackle, Louisiana

FSU must rebuild its offensive line, starting at left tackle. Bryant Williams, a 6-7, 335-pound lineman from Louisiana, is expected to visit this weekend. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Williams played 719 snaps for the Ragin’ Cajuns last season and earned a 69.4 grade from Pro Football Focus. He brings starting experience, having played three seasons at Louisiana.

Tucker Holloway, return specialist, Virginia Tech

After struggling in the return game, FSU is looking for an upgrade. Tucker Holloway, who played three seasons at Virginia Tech, plans to visit on Jan. 2.

Holloway produced 476 punt-return yards and one touchdown, earning All-ACC third-team honors in 2023. He missed the 2024 season with a knee injury sustained in the spring. As a receiver, he has 13 catches for 149 yards.

Xavier Townsend, wide receiver, Iowa State

Xavier Townsend, a Tampa native, is expected on campus this weekend. He spent last season at Iowa State, recording 18 catches for 243 yards. Before that, he played three seasons at UCF under Gus Malzahn, with Tim Harris Jr. as offensive coordinator.

At UCF, Townsend caught 66 passes for 521 yards and four touchdowns. He could add depth to FSU’s receiver room after three departures to the portal.

Ben Murwaski, offensive tackle, UConn

Another massive lineman to watch is Ben Murwakski out of UConn, who is expected to be on FSU's campus. Murwaski is massive at 6-7, 335 pounds.

The Harleysville, Pa. native is known for his run-blocking ability, which would be a fit on Malzahn's offense.
