Former Wake Forest wide receiver Micah Mays Jr. is transferring to the Florida Gators, giving the program a versatile pass-catching option with experience and multiple years of eligibility remaining.

After two seasons with the Demon Deacons, Mays, a redshirt sophomore, announced his decision to join the Gators on social media with one word: "Home".

Coming out of The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Mays was one of the more complete athletes in the state, earning national recognition as a U.S. Army All-American and a consensus four-star recruit.

At 6-foot-2-inches and just under 200 pounds, Mays brings a combination of size, speed and flexibility that fits well within Florida's offense. Having already garnered experience in the ACC, he enters the SEC with knowledge of playing at the Power Four level.

In 2025, Mays finished the season with 18 receptions for 302 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 16.8 yards per catch. Several of his best outings included a two-catch, 69-yard performance against Oregon State that featured a 52-yard touchdown, as well as a five-catch effort against the Florida State Seminoles.

Mays checks several boxes that Florida values in portal additions. He's a Florida native, a former highly regarded prospect and an athlete with a track background that shows up in his burst and acceleration.

As the Orange and Blue continue to retool, Mays' transfer represents a low-risk, high-upside move. If his trajectory trends upward, the Gators may have reeled in a receiver capable of becoming a steady contributor in the SEC.
