Florida football added a notable piece to the roster on Monday as tight end Lacota Dippre announced he is transferring to the Gators through a post on social media.

Dippre, a tight end who spent some time with Charlotte before transferring to James Madison in 2025, shared a graphic of himself in Florida colors with a simple caption: "Go Gators".

The timing of Dippre's commitment is notable, particularly given the recent turnover in the tight end room. The Gators have seen departures at the position through the transfer portal, including Hayden Hansen, who recently decided to commit to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Having appeared in every game during the 2025 season at JMU, Dippre's addition helps address both the immediate depth concerns and the need for a tight end capable of handling a versatile workload, whether as a receiver, blocker or situational weapon.

Dippre made 13 starts last season, finishing the year with 17 receptions for 192 yards and three touchdowns. JMU frequently used him on fake punts, where he carried the ball four times for 49 yards and scored a touchdown, converting multiple first downs in the process.

As the Gators continue reshaping the roster, Dippre's arrival helps fill a gap created by recent departures while giving the tight end room a player who has already proven he can contribute on the field.
