Per Albert Breer of The MMQB, the Atlanta Falcons have requested permission to interview Detroit Lions chief operating officer Mike Disner for their newly-created president of football role.
Disner was named the Lions' chief operating officer in May of 2022 after previously serving as senior vice president of football and business administration. In his current role, Disner oversees the organization's football operations and football administration, as well as leading the Lions' strategy and revenue teams.

During the 2021 offseason, Disner worked alongside principal owner and chair Sheila Hamp, president and CEO Rod Wood and special assistant to president/CEO and chairperson Chris Spielman to orchestrate the search that resulted in the Lions hiring executive vice president and general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell.
Disner joined the Lions in 2019 as its vice president of football administration, where he had oversight on the club's salary cap management, player contract negotiations and compliance with the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Prior to joining Detroit, Disner served as the Arizona Cardinals' director of football administration for six seasons where he served as the club's lead contract negotiator and management of the team's salary cap.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will also interview for the president of football role either Thursday or Friday of this week and Ryan is considered the favorite to land the position.
Ryan was the No. 3 overall pick by the Falcons in the 2008 NFL draft and spent 14 seasons with the franchise from 2008-21. Ryan ended his playing career with one final season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022.
