Falcons kicker Zane Gonzalez wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Atlanta Falcons kicker Zane Gonzalez has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his impressive performance in the teams' season finale. While the game feels like ages go due to the team firing head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot on Sunday evening, Gonzalez played a pivotal role in the win.

The Falcons barely held on for a two-point victory over the New Orleans Saints, and it was all because of Gonzalez's perfect day. The veteran kicker converted all four of his field goal attempts and made his lone extra point attempt to help Atlanta secure a 19-17 win in Week 18.

"Gonzalez takes home his fourth career Player of the Week accolade after the Falcons took home their fourth straight win to end the season," wrote NFL.com's Grant Gordon. "Gonzalez's trusty boot led to 13 of Atlanta's points in a 19-17 win over the archrival New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Gonzalez, in addition to an extra point, was 4 for 4 on field goals, with makes of 40, 51 and 38 (twice) yards."

Gonzalez helped solidify the kicker position after the Falcons released Younghoe Koo and Parker Romo during the season. In nine games, Gonzalez converted 19 of 22 field goal attempts and made 17 of 18 extra point attempts.

The veteran kicker is a free agent this offseason, but we expect the Falcons to bring him back next year after his strong finish. Check out the full list of Atlanta's free agents in 2026 HERE.
