When the Atlanta Falcons fired head coach Raheem Morris after Sunday's season finale, there were only two other head coach openings in the NFL. However, a lot has changed over the past week. Six more head coaches have since been fired, meaning there are now eight coaching vacancies around the league.
For reference, that means 25 percent of the teams in the NFL are now without a head coach. On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins added head coach Mike McDaniel to that list. Suddenly, the Falcons have heavy competition in their search for Raheem Morris' replacement.

Atlanta and Miami are the only two teams currently looking to hire new general managers. The Falcons have already begun their search for a new head coach-GM combo, and could look to a familiar face to lead the team back to relevance.
Former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is the favorite for the team's new president of football role. As team owner Arthur Blank explained at his end-of-the-season press conference, this new role will work closely with the head coach and GM to put the best product on the field.
Atlanta will begin interviewing candidates for the president of football on Thursday, according to Blank. Here's a look at the eight current NFL head coaching vacancies.
