Barcelona star Eric Garcia says that victory at the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia would give Barcelona “extra confidence” ahead of the second half of the 2025-26 season.
Hansi Flick’s side picked up the trophy last season and went on to claim the league title and the Copa del Rey. Garcia is hoping that victory in Sunday’s final can be the catalyst for more success.
“We’re going for the Super Cup now, for the title. For us, winning the Super Cup would mean what it meant last year,” he told reporters.
“It’s January, we’re getting closer every day, and that would give us extra confidence. Now, we have a very tight schedule coming up, and coming back with the title gives you a real boost of motivation.”
Garcia also spoke about his own form this season and that of goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
“I’m playing in many different positions and they all have their challenges. But I like them all and I feel comfortable in all of them,” he added.
“Having him as my goalkeeper, and him being my friend, is really great. The saves he makes even surprise us.”
Barcelona are hoping to successfully defend their Super Cup title before heading home for a Copa del Rey date with Racing.
