I used my free hit chip for Gameweek 18 and it delivered a mixed set of results for my squad, with a few positives but also some disappointing returns in key areas.

In goal, my goalkeeper of the week, Jordan Pickford, justified the selection. He kept a clean sheet against Burnley and finished with 6 points, providing a solid foundation for the team.

The back three failed to deliver this time around fully. Jeremie Frimpong was the only defender to return, picking up 5 points, while the other two defenders were unable to register any attacking returns or clean sheets.

It was a frustrating outcome, especially given the favorable fixtures heading into the gameweek.

Midfield was another area where expectations were not fully met. Only Semenyo and Declan Rice managed to score 5 points or more, while the rest of the midfielders underperformed.

Up front, the biggest surprise was Erling Haaland blanking in a gameweek where many managers expected him to deliver.

Considering the attacking potential of some of these players, this was an area where more points were hoped for.

Despite this setback, Hugo Ekitike was able to find the net, earning 5 points and slightly easing the disappointment from Haaland’s return.

GW19 Preview

Looking ahead to Gameweek 19, I have just one free transfer available.

I’ve decided to bring in Cherki in place of Phil Foden. Cherki comes in at a lower price and appears to be in better form at the moment, while also freeing up valuable funds for potential premium transfers later on.

Tactically, I’ll be setting up in a 3-5-2 formation for the upcoming gameweek.

Haaland retains the captain’s armband once again, as Manchester City face Sunderland, and I’m backing him to bounce back strongly after last week’s blank.

Gameweek 18 served as a reminder that even well-planned teams can fall short, especially when key players fail to perform.

With a few smart adjustments and an eye on form and fixtures, I’m optimistic about improving returns in Gameweek 19.
