The New York Giants have made it clear that John Harbaugh is their top target to become the franchise’s next head coach. The organization has spared no effort in its pursuit, even though a formal interview has yet to be scheduled.

Amid the ongoing coaching search, reports emerged that former head coach Brian Daboll has spoken highly of the Giants’ job in private conversations with other head-coaching candidates.

Both Daboll and two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning have now reached out directly to Harbaugh to help sell the position, with particular emphasis on the potential of quarterback Jaxson Dart.

This development comes after reports that Harbaugh spent the previous weekend -- before agreeing to interviews with a select group of teams -- studying film of Dart and other quarterbacks connected to teams pursuing him.

Dart, coming off an impressive rookie season that has positioned him as a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year, is widely seen as a key factor making the Giants’ vacancy especially appealing.

Manning’s support for the current quarterback is unsurprising given his continued involvement with the organization. Daboll’s endorsement, however, carries significant weight, considering he was dismissed from the role just months ago and is now effectively advocating for his own successor.

The Giants have held multiple calls with Harbaugh, arranged for executive Chris Mara to meet with him last weekend, and received direct outreach from two-time Super Bowl-winning former coach Tom Coughlin.

The team is reportedly prepared to extend an offer immediately after conducting its formal interview. The Giants have made little attempt to conceal their preference and appear determined to land the NFL’s most coveted head-coaching candidate.
