PHILADELPHIA — Greetings from the press box at Lincoln Financial Field, where the Philadelphia Eagles will close out the 2025 regular season with an NFC East rivalry matchup against the Washington Commanders.

The Eagles (11-5) will be resting starters in Week 18 against the Commanders (4-12) ahead of the postseason.

It’ll be an opportunity for backup quarterback Tanner McKee, running back Tank Bigsby and many others to shine. And they still have a lot to play for.

If they beat the Commanders and the Chicago Bears lose at home to the Detroit Lions, the Eagles will get the NFC’s No. 2 seed and face the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

If the Eagles lose to the Commanders or the Bears win, the Eagles will be the No. 3 seed and face either the Los Angeles Rams or San Francisco 49ers next week.

Stay tuned for live updates from the Lincoln Financial Field press box.

FIRST QUARTER

2:33 — Eagles 0, Commanders 0

It looked like the Commanders were going to take an early lead. Josh Johnson led Washington on a 17-play, 79-yard drive that spanned almost 10 minutes. But Commanders kicker Jake Moody missed a 24-yard field goal. Somehow, he clanked it off the right upright. Still tied up.

The Eagles’ opening drive ended in a punt. But an interesting development: DeVonta Smith is playing. The star wide receiver entered Sunday’s game needing 44 yards for a 1,000-yard season. He picked up 17 on the game’s first play. Would expect him to exit the game once he gets there.
