The volcano that is the Dodgers’ offseason had a decent eruption around the winter meetings, but since then, it has been relatively dormant. With fans waiting eagerly for what the next move could be, the magma is slowly beginning its ascent. When that next burst will take place remains a mystery.
So, for now, the Dodgers continue to have their name attached to high-end names within trade/free agency rumors. The newest one comes from both Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, as they report that the Dodgers are one of a handful of teams interested in Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta.

Starting pitching is undoubtedly the least of the team’s concerns, as they still have to address their outfield situation. Both Rosenthal and Sammon note that the Dodgers could use a short-term deal with high AAV’s for Kyle Tucker if no other team pounces on him quickly.
The Freddy Peralta talks are about to resume in earnest. Both New York clubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox are among the teams showing interest… Dodgers people like to say that Andrew Friedman’s preferred method of operation is “hanging around the backboard.” If a player’s price in trade or free agency drops, the Dodgers’ president of baseball operations will attempt to grab him on the rebound and dunk on the industry yet again. Tucker on, say, a four-year deal with opt-outs and a massive AAV would be a classic Friedman add.”

Shohei Ohtani has already received a day in his honor, as on May 17, 2024, the city of Los Angeles declared that day as Shohei Ohtani day. Now Dodgers fans can relish in his glory on the field all day on Wednesday with MLB Network’s “Shohei” day, which includes various segments and game highlights throughout his career that begins from 9:00 a.m. ET and ends at 12:00 a.m. ET with his legendary 50-50 game. Sonja Chen of MLB.com has more on the viewing guide.
Ohtani’s name has been tied to gambling in each of the past two years. 2024 brought about the Ippei Mizuhara scandal— for which he is now serving a 57-month sentence at the Federal Correction Institute Allenwood Low— and last year, Ohtani was the most bet on player in both MLB and in all of sports. Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times has more on which MLB players ranked as the most bet on in 2025.

It looks like Clayton Kershaw might have a new career in sight, as Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reports that NBC is interested in adding Kershaw to its Major League Baseball package. Joey Votto, another potential future Hall of Famer, has also garnered interest from NBC.
