Brian Flores has helped the Vikings franchise transition from an era of uncertainty and underperforming on defense to making their unit one of the best in the league. He has helped players take the next step in their development, maximized free agent additions like Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard, and has helped proven veterans like Harrison Smith show they still have some juice by scheming them properly.
With all of those successes on his resume, Flores' future in Minnesota is still up in the air. Not because of performance, but because of his contract expiring after Week 18 of the season on Sunday.

Flores was asked about it this week and gave a rare statement that showed his passion for the team and the city he has called home for the last three years.
Flores explains, saying, "A lot of talk about my personal situation and next year I've said this many times, I've loved my time here in Minnesota. . .the state of Minnesota has been tremendous to me. . .we'll just kind of let the club and my representation handle the rest. And so, that's kind of where I'm at on that. You know, I don't, as you guys know, I don't like talking about myself. I think our players are doing a lot of, you know, great things on the field, and I don't want to take away from them in any way."
Flores is getting interest from teams outside of Minnesota for his defensive coaching, but ESPN's Adam Schefter also believes this could be the year he gets another head coaching job. Either way, the future is bright for Flores, it's just a matter of where.
