Coveted head coach ‘really likes’ Giants

It appears the interest between the Giants and John Harbaugh is mutual.

The longtime Ravens coach flew to the top of the Giants’ wishlist after Baltimore fired him on Tuesday.

Speaking on the “Scoop City” podcast, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that “Harbaugh really likes the Giants (and) they really like him.”

Russini added that the two sides are working to set up an interview.

Harbaugh, who spent 18 seasons with Baltimore, will be a top name on the market as teams look to fill head coaching vacancies this offseason. Along with Baltimore and the Giants, the Raiders, Browns, Falcons, Cardinals and Titans are all looking for a new head coach. It’s been reported that even some teams already with head coaches have expressed interest in Harbaugh, too.

Harbaugh, 63, has a 180-113 regular season record and is 13-11 in the postseason. His 180 wins rank 14th all-time and his 13 playoff wins are tied for seven.

Former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski had dinner with the Giants on Tuesday and was set to meet with the team again Wednesday to discuss the opening.

The Ravens won a Super Bowl under Harbaugh in the 2012 season but haven’t returned since.

The Giants have arranged interviews with former Falcons coach Raheem Morris and former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Giants also have interviews scheduled with Lou Anarumo (Colts defensive coordinator), Vance Joseph (Broncos defensive coordinator), Kliff Kingsbury (ex-Commanders offensive coordinator), Klint Kubiak (Seahawks offensive coordinator) and Mike Kafka (Giants interim head coach).
