There is more buzz around Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and the New York Giants head coaching opening.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Anarumo is among the group of candidates who have made the Giants' initial list of "expected" interviews.

Raanan notes that Anarumo had previously interviewed with the Giants and has ties to the organization—having been the DBs coach in 2018—and to GM Joe Schoen.

Other names on this head coach search list, as reported by Raanan, include Mike McCarthy, Jesse Minter, Chris Shula, Vane Joseph, and others.

The Giants will cast a wide net in this search.

In Anarumo's first season with the Colts, he's had to navigate numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball.

The Indianapolis defense ranks 19th in points per game allowed, third in yards per rush, and 19th in yards per pass attempt. The Colts have been one of the better teams at forcing takeaways as well.

Anarumo also has a strong track record from his time with the Bengals.

He runs a malleable and quick-to-adjust defensive scheme that adapts to what each opponent is doing and what his players do best. In part, that's how he earned the nickname the "Mad Scientist" during his time in Cincinnati.

A report from The Athletic a few weeks ago also mentioned Anarumo as a possible candidate for the Tennessee Titans' head coaching opening.
