Colorado star freshman edge rusher London Merritt announced his plan to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Merritt was one of Colorado's 15 2025 signees and added to the program's success in recruiting from IMG Academy. He is now the eighth of the 15 recruits to announce their departure after just one season with the program.

Merritt showed plenty of potential playing in all 12 games during the 2025 season, with his play earning him a spot on the Pro Football Focus All-Freshman Team, and he was named an All-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year Honorable Mention.
He finished the year with 25 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries and one sack.
With the portal opening on Friday, the defensive line becomes an even higher priority with Merritt's departure. The Buffs return just two starters defensively, making the next couple of months crucial for Deion Sanders' squad.
