Colorado sets visit with former All-Sun Belt transfer edge MJ Stroud

The Colorado Buffaloes lost seven players from their 2025 defensive line to the transfer portal and the NFL Draft; however, head coach Deion Sanders is responding.

With several spots to fill along its defensive front, Sanders and the Buffs don't have time to waste. Notably, Colorado has scheduled visits with former New Mexico defensive tackle Ezra Christensen, Appalachian State standout Dylan Manuel and Mercer star Andrew Zock. However, the defensive line rebuild is incomplete, with additional bodies needed.

Among those others is former Georgia Southern standout MJ Stroud. The edge rusher led the Eagles in sacks (6.5), the Sun Belt conference in tackles for loss (15.5), and forced three fumbles in 2025. His play earned him first-team All-Sun Belt in his redshirt junior season.

Stroud has visits scheduled with Colorado on Jan. 6, West Virginia (Jan. 2) and Michigan State (Jan. 9).

Stroud ended the season with a pass-rushing grade of 78.7 and an overall defensive grade of 73.7. With one year of eligibility remaining, Stroud could fit into the Buffaloes' edge rusher room that is currently light following the departure of star freshman Alexander McPherson and London Merritt.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound edge could turn out to be a much-needed addition for the Buffs, as he could earn a starting role playing time with his experience and productivity.
