Colorado football continues its transfer portal strategy of adding talented Group of Five and FCS players rather than relying on Power 5 burnouts. A respectable strategy that is producing commitment after commitment. The 14th commitment for the Buffs is a much-needed inside linebacker in Bowling Green transfer Gideon Lampron, yes, his legal middle name is ESPN.
Lampron was arguably the best linebacker in the MAC in 2025, earning first-team All-Conference honors. He finished the year with 119 tackles (No. 3 in MAC), 17.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass deflection. He marks the first inside linebacker the Buffs have added, which was a significant hole following the departures of Reignald Hughes, Mantrez Walker and Martavius French.

The former Bowling Green star should step right into the heart of the Colorado defense and help shore up a leaky run defense. Pro Football Focus gave Lampron an 84.5 run defense grade, the seventh-best mark in the MAC. 247Sports' transfer portal rankings have Lampron as the No. 40 linebacker in this year's portal.
Lampron's commitment also continues the trend of Colorado transfer portal commits that have earned All-Conference honors. Eight of the Buffaloes' 14 committed transfers have earned such honors at their respective programs this past fall.
Deion Sanders and the Buffs are likely not done adding linebackers, with at least one more needed to round out defensive coordinator Robert Liveingston's front seven.
