Cobey Sellers, a former 4-star recruit and Texas A&M transfer cornerback, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt football Jan. 5.

Sellers, a 5-11, 175-pounder, appeared in one game in his freshman season with the Aggies, who went to the College Football Playoff.

Coming out of Shadow Creek High School in Houston, Texas, Sellers was the No. 255 player in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports Composite. As a transfer, 247Sports rated him a 3-star and No. 557 in the portal. He was also a track athlete in high school.

In addition to Sellers, Vanderbilt has landed another defensive transfer in Talan Carter, a defensive lineman from Jacksonville State. The Commodores have also landed a handful of offensive commitments, including two tight ends and an offensive lineman.

In the past few years under Clark Lea, Vanderbilt has targeted young players who didn't play much at other SEC schools. Aaron Bryant, Keanu Koht and Jordan Matthews were three examples a year ago who found their way into the rotation.
