Cleveland Browns set to Interview OC Tommy Rees for HC gig

4 days ago 2

After firing Kevin Stefanski following eight wins in the last two seasons combined, the Cleveland Browns have begun scheduling interviews and seeking his replacement. One potential option comes from in-house, as the Browns are set to interview their offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees, on Thursday. Given the team's offensive struggles this year, this candidate won't be liked by some fans.

Rees was promoted to offensive coordinator this season after serving as the Browns' pass game specialist and tight ends coach in 2024. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Alabama in 2023 and held the same titles for Notre Dame from 2020-2022. Rees is highly thought of in coaching circles as the next up-and-coming name to watch.

After a bad start to the season, Kevin Stefanski handed over the play-calling duties to Rees, and though things weren't great, they did seem to improve. Rees didn't have a lot to work with, but there were times when the playcalling felt on point. While he wouldn't be my first choice, I don't think Rees is a bad choice if the team ultimately goes that route.
