The Cleveland Browns lose their top cornerback duo against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Browns lost Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward and new starter Tyson Campbell during the first quarter. Ward left the game early with a neck injury. He has been ruled questionable to return. Campbell exited the game with a shoulder injury. Campbell suffered the injury when he was caught underneath a block. While he lay on the ground after the play, Campbell was able to walk into the medical tent on the sideline. The Browns have ruled both cornerbacks questionable to return. However, it’s unlikely they’ll return. The Browns want both of their starting cornerbacks entering the offseason healthy.

Both cornerbacks are essential to the defense. Campbell was a mid-season addition for the Browns. Cleveland and the Jacksonville Jaguars swapped their 2021 cornerback picks. The Browns traded Greg Newsome II to Jacksonville for Campbell. Campbell has thrived with the Browns, while Newsome has struggled in Jacksonville. Both in-season additions have had catastrophic miscommunication. Campbell has been a natural in the Browns' man coverage system. He has done a great job of using his athleticism to blanket receivers. He’s also brought a hard-hitting attitude to Cleveland.
Campbell isn’t afraid of contact. I think the Browns will put more on the young cornerback’s plate in 2026. He could be a real game-changer in the slot next year.
