Clemson loses defensive end Markus Dixon to the transfer portal

1 week ago 2

Clemson is losing another player to the transfer portal, as redshirt sophomore Markus Dixon has officially entered his name after three seasons with the program.

Dixon originally signed with the Tigers as a tight end and appeared in 12 games over his first two seasons, contributing primarily in a depth role while developing at the position. Ahead of the 2025 season, he made the move to the defensive side of the ball, transitioning to defensive end in hopes of finding a clearer path to playing time. The switch marked a significant change, as Dixon spent the offseason learning a new position and adjusting to the demands of the defensive front.

During the 2025 campaign, Dixon saw action in three games, logging a limited number of snaps as part of Clemson’s defensive line rotation. While his role was small, the move to defensive end positioned him as a longer-term developmental piece rather than an immediate contributor.

Dixon becomes the third defensive lineman to enter the transfer portal this offseason and the first defensive end to do so. His departure continues a trend of turnover along Clemson’s defensive front as the Tigers reshuffle depth and evaluate options heading into next season.
