The transfer portal window is officially open, and Clemson has taken a notable hit on the defensive side of the ball with the departure of defensive tackle Stephiylan Green.
Green, who was expected to be a major part of next season’s defensive plans, is entering the portal after an encouraging but injury-affected 2025 campaign. Despite missing time, he started six of the 10 games he appeared in and finished the season with 18 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. When healthy, he showed the ability to disrupt from the interior and steadily worked his way into a larger role along the defensive front.

After redshirting in 2023, Green put together a breakout year the following season, appearing in all but one game while recording 16 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. His growth carried over into 2025, where he became one of the more intriguing young pieces on the line before injuries slowed his momentum.
While Green’s exit is a significant one, it still doesn’t top T.J. Parker or Peter Woods’ decision to move on, which remains the two Tigers’ biggest departure of the year. Still, losing a defensive tackle who appeared poised for an expanded role adds another layer of uncertainty to a defense that will now have to reshuffle its interior rotation heading into next season.
