Clemson football has landed a big one in the NCAA transfer portal.
The Tigers on Thursday picked up their eighth transfer portal commitment overall in 2026 and their second of the day when former Colorado Buffaloes defensive end London Merritt committed to Dabo Swinney's team. CBS Sports' Chris Hummer first reported the news.

Listed as 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Merritt had a standout season as a freshman with coach Deion Sanders' team in 2025. He made 23 tackles (14 solo) and had 8.0 tackles for loss to go with one sack, earning All-Freshman honors from Pro Football Focus (PFF) and an Honorable Mention for Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
Merritt played in all 12 games for the Buffaloes in 2025, making one start.
247Sports ranked Merritt a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class from IMG Academy in Florida. He was ranked the No. 35 overall edge rusher in the 2025 class.
The addition of Merritt Thursday followed that of defensive tackle Markus Strong from former Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners. All eight of Clemson's transfer portal additions since the portal opened on Jan. 2 have been on defense. The portal closes Jan. 16.

On3 listed Merritt as the 70th best player in its transfer portal rankings and the 13th best edge rusher.
