Iowa women's basketball (12-2, 3-0 Big Ten) defeated No. 25 Nebraska (12-2, 1-2 Big Ten), 86-76, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on New Year's Day, behind a career-high 24-point performance from sophomore point guard Chit-Chat Wright.

Afterwards, the 5-foot-4 star reflected on her sensational effort for the 14th-ranked Hawkeyes against the rival Cornhuskers.

"I'll say my team gives me a lot of confidence, and also they put a lot of trust in me, so I just know whatever I do, they're going to have my back. Whether it's right or wrong, we're going together," Wright said.

Wright led the Hawkeyes in scoring with her 24 points on 5-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 11-for-12 from the free-throw line, to go along with three assists, two steals, and one rebound in 39 minutes of action.

"You just kind of reach a close state, and then also within the game, you just make the right reads, don't try to force anything, and the ball is going to eventually come back to you, and just knock down the shots or make the right pass. That's what gives me confidence, too, as well," Wright said.

Wright and the rest of the Iowa squad will look to continue their stellar play when they travel to face Northwestern (6-8, 0-3 Big Ten) at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill., on Jan. 5. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
