The disappointing 2025 season for the Kansas City Chiefs has the franchise on the outside of the postseason for the first time in a decade. The double-digit loss season was likely leading to changes in personnel on the field and on the coaching staff.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs are not retaining wide receivers coach Connor Embree. Embree spent seven seasons with the franchise, serving in multiple position-group roles as an assistant coach. The miscues, notably receiver drops in the passing game, didn't help his position on the team.
"The Chiefs are moving on from WRs coach Connor Embree," Rapoport posted on X. "There may be other changes to Andy Reid's staff, but this talented group will have a new coach in 2026."

In 2023, Kansas City led the NFL in drops and ranked third last season. Several moments in close games this season were affected by the team's inability to execute efficiently.
The first coaching domino has fallen as offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is conducting multiple head-coaching interviews around the league. Kansas City will have a significantly different look on the coaching staff as the early offseason gets underway.
