The offseason is officially underway for the Kansas City Chiefs, as numerous players may have played their last game for the franchise in Week 18 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The early end to their season without a playoff appearance will give the front office enough time to evaluate the team's needs. A critical conversation will be had regarding the cornerback position, especially since starter Jaylen Watson has begun saying his goodbyes to the team on Instagram.
"Dear CHIEFS KINGDOM, if this is the last ride I truly thank you for all the passion and support you've showed over the past 4 years. The best 4 years of my life," wrote Watson, "From a 7th round draft pick out of Augusta, Ga I felt welcomed since the first day I walked in the building. Never in a million years I could've imagined being a 2x Sb champ. To playing in arrowhead in front of the best fans in the world. Through the good years and bad you guys were always there 100 degrees or -30. To all my teammates that became brothers thank you for showing us young bulls the way to come in and be a real professional. So many memories will forever be embedded and I will cherish those moments forever thank you CHIEFS KINGDOM."
Watson is a two-time Super Bowl champion who has battled injuries but has quickly become a reliable cornerback alongside Trent McDuffie. He was moved to injured reserve after Week 16 due to a groin injury, ending his 2025 season with 64 total tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions.
