Rudy Galetti is known more as a transfer story merchant, but on his Substack today he has a really interesting interview with David Datro Fofana, one of the many failed experiments of this current Chelsea “project.”

The striker was brought in from Norway, and has since had a series of disappointing and poorly chosen loans. He’s now at Fatih Karagumruk in Turkey, where’s scoring regularly.
In this interview, he actually apologises to Chelsea fans for not making an impact:
“To Chelsea and their fans: thank you for believing in me, and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you the version of myself you deserved at that time.
“Today, I’m more grounded. I understand football better, but more importantly, I understand myself better. I’m calmer, more disciplined, and more aware of my responsibilities within a team.”
An apology really isn’t necessary. He was barely given a chance in his 6 months actually at the club, and since then the loans he has been sent on have been the fault of the club.

Perhaps he might want to apologise to those teams for not delivering while there, but he has nothing really to apologise to Chelsea fans for. In fact, we remember some calling to see more of him in the short period he spent at Stamford Bridge after signing.
In other news…
Raheem Sterling needs to leave Chelsea to get his career going again, but right now the combination of his desire to stay in London and his high wages, plus Chelsea’s decision to only allow him to move on a permanent deal, is making it impossible to see where he might go.
Ashley Cole has been speaking about Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win, and accidentally pointed a criticism at our current model of squad building.
