Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg drew 1-1 with Nice last night, but the real story was off the pitch, where Liam Rosenior was being asked about his imminent move to take over as Chelsea boss.
It’s been clear that the Blues are lining him up as their first choice to replace Enzo Maresca after the Italian coach left the club earlier this week. And Rosenior is the obvious next up, given he’s effectively been groomed in Ligue 1 to one day coach at Chelsea.

His quotes are hardly enthusiastic, however. This chance has come earlier that it was supposed to, and he knows it.

“I love this group. I love this club, more than most people probably think. I’ve had the 18 best months of my professional career, for sure, I’ve made many good friends, I have so much respect for the people here,” Rosenior said, confirming the move without confirming it.
“Things aren’t concrete, there may be interest, we’ll see. And at the end of the day, I want to focus on Strasbourg and not other things at the moment. I haven’t discussed anything at this point. I know that they’re (Chelsea) looking for a manager.”

It’s a tough spot – you can’t turn down a promotion from your boss, but when you know you’re not qualified, it’s a poison pill.
In other news…
Chelsea need their most experienced players to step up and help them in this tricky moment, and Pedro Neto is among them. He spoke a little about how he and his teammates can rise to the challenge.
David Datro Fofana is finally at a club where he’s playing and scoring regularly, and he decided to take the chance to apologise to Chelsea fans for not being able to show them his best in his time at the club.
