Caleb Williams sets new Bears single-season passing record vs. Lions

6 days ago 2

The Chicago Bears officially have a new single-season passing record holder, and his name is Caleb Williams. The second-year quarterback etched his name into the franchise's historic record books as he became the single-season passing leader on Sunday, moving past Eric Kramer's previous record of 3,838 yards he set back in 1995.

Heading into Sunday's game, Williams had the third-most passing yards of any Bears quarterback in a season, behind Kramer and Jay Cutler's 3,812 yards in 2014. Williams needed just 109 yards to move into first place. He accomplished the feat a bit later than expected in the fourth quarter, but it came on a memorable play. Williams found wide receiver Jahdae Walker for a 25-yard touchdown pass to put him at 114 on the day. The touchdown cut a two-score deficit to one as the Bears trail the Detroit Lions 16-8.
