The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a history of being very easy on head coaches and giving them every chance to right the proverbial ship. However, the situation surrounding Todd Bowles has remained heated for most of the year, despite his tenure of success with the team. Despite all the harsh comments, the extension and injury talk has always been the crutch this season has leaned on in terms of protecting Bowles, but the talk of moving on stems from more than that.
The botched hiring of Josh Grizzard as offensive coordinator and the refusal to fire Thomas McGaughey, who runs the special teams, have left a sour taste in everyone's mouth. Beyond that, there is also the conservative approach on the field, and the defense failing to execute is enough to make folks want a fresh start.

All of these points led to Bowles being asked about the fans' call to replace him. He defiantly responded, saying, "I've earned a chance, but we won three straight division titles, so that says a lot as far as I'm concerned, but I don't really have a message for fans, other than true fans are true fans. We're gonna try to do our best to go out there and win for them, you know? You know, feel how they feel, but that's not the culture's problem. . .I'm just saying they're frustrated."
Bowles' defiance will be looked back upon as the season goes on in 2026, if he is retained. He will meet with the Glazer family later this week, and more will be decided then as the team can pivot into the offseason. It seems something has to give, it is just a matter of what and when.
