The Browns also announced cornerback Tyson Campbell left the game with an injury, and was questionable to return.

Before the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Bengals, Ward said he'd text Bengals quarterback and former Ohio State Buckeyes teammate Joe Burrow to tell Burrow to target him during the season opener.

In 2021, Ward intercepted Burrow and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. Ward also intercepted former Bengals QB Andy Dalton twice in December 2019.

The four-time Pro Bowler is in his eighth NFL season, all with the Browns. He was Cleveland's first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
