Brewers prospect Frank Cairone being treated in hospital after car crash

Milwaukee Brewers second-round draft pick Frank Cairone was involved in a serious car crash near his home in New Jersey, the team announced.

"Left-handed pitcher and 2025 draft pick Frank Cairone was involved in a car accident yesterday in Franklinville, New Jersey," the Brewers said in a statement Jan. 3. "Frank is currently being cared for at a hospital in New Jersey with the support of his family. The Brewers' thoughts and prayers are with Frank and his family during this difficult time. We will provide updates and Frank's condition as they become available."

Cairone was the 68th-overall selection in the 2025 MLB draft. The left-hander from Delsea Regional High in New Jersey did not make his official affiliated debut, instead pitching at the team's Arizona complex to close out the season.

Cairone hails from a region that the Brewers have targeted heavily for high-school arms in recent drafts, with Bryce Meccage, Josh Knoth and Chris Levonas hailing from New Jersey or New York and taken in the top 70 picks. Cairone turned 18 in September.
