If salary arbitration-eligible players don't agree to contracts on Thursday, they have to go through the arbitration process. Teams would prefer to avoid that if they can.
The Milwaukee Brewers did a good job of that.
They reached new deals with both star second baseman Brice Turang and slugging first baseman Andrew Vaughn.
The salaries for 2026 were both reported by Robert Murray:
$7.65 million for Vaughn
$4.15 million for Turang

That's a combined $11.8 million outlay for two of their best players. Not a bad outcome for the Brewers.
Vaughn, further into his career, got a step up the ladder in the negotiating process because of that.

He came to the Brewers in a trade from the White Sox and suddenly looked like the first-round pick he once was instead of the bust he had seemingly been turning into.
Now, Vaughn has the first base job held down in Milwaukee for himself.
Turang has blossomed into a star. He can field, run, hit and hit with some power.
The second baseman has been so solid that he's slated to start for the United States at the World Baseball Classic.
He'll earn more money as his career goes on, but for now, he gets a nice solid deal to head into the 2026 season with.
