Best and worst case playoff seeding scenarios for Jaguars in Week 18

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a playoff spot clinched, but we won't know until after the Week 18 games what seed they will be.

So what is the best and worst-case scenario for the Jaguars when it comes to playoff seeding?

The best-case scenario would be that the Jaguars are the AFC's No. 1 seed -- although a fair amount of help is required.

To earn the top spot, the Jaguars have to defeat the Titans, while the Broncos have to lose to the LA Chargers and the Patriots have to lose to the Dolphins.

The Chargers have already announced that quarterback Justin Herbert will be sitting out in Week 18, which doesn't help the Jaguars' chances.

The worst-case scenario is that the Jaguars are upset at home by Tennessee, and Houston wins in Week 18 against Indianapolis.

In that instance, the Texans would win the division and the Jaguars would be a wildcard team, heading on the road in the first round of the playoffs to likely face either Houston or the winner of Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

The most likely scenario is that the Jaguars win on Sunday over the Titans but don't get the help they need to secure the AFC's No. 1 seed.

In that case, the Jaguars would be division champs and would host the AFC's sixth seed at home in the first round of the playoffs. As of now, that would be a rematch with the Chargers, although that could change.
