One of the key points of emphasis for the Chicago Bears when they hired Ben Johnson as their new head coach was for the connection and development he could build with quarterback Caleb Williams.
After being a big part of the revival of Jared Goff's career with the Detroit Lions, Johnson brought his highly-regarded offensive mind and quarterback work to Chicago, ready to rebuild the 2024 No. 1 overall pick. In the beginning of the year, there were still questions on Williams, and if he could ever reach his potential even with his new head coach, but a lot of those questions have found answers at the end of this regular season.

Not only did Williams set the new single-season passing yards record in Bears history, but he also finished in the Top 10 across the NFL in both passing yards (3,942) and touchdowns (27), leading Chicago to a NFC North title and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
Johnson recently spoke about his quarterback's growth and development, saying Williams is a much different player than he was at the beginning of the season.
"He's a completely different quarterback than when we took this job. He has played some really good football in the back half of the season."
While the individual accolades would've been more of a highlight to add to his 2025 resume, the fact that Williams led the charge in turning around the Bears, from a 5-12 team in his rookie season to 11-6 in 2025, speaks volumes of him with his new coaching staff.

Johnson is showing early returns that the hiring was a home run for all parties involved, but both the head coach and quarterback will say that the job is not done, and they're focused on going as far as they possibly can during this playoff run.
