Bemidji loses tight contest to Elk River

Dec. 30—ELK RIVER — The Bemidji High School girls basketball were just four points short.

In a tight battle with Elk River, the Lumberjacks couldn't pull it out, losing 48-44 Tuesday afternoon in Elk River.

Karley LaZella led the team in points with 14. She sank two 3-pointers, another team high. Anysia Pink scored 12, including a team-high eight points in the second half.

The Bemidji defense had trouble stopping the Elks' Joanna Tako, who scored 16 points for Elk River.
