Barcelona academy forward determined to make it to first team amid offers to leave

FC Barcelona are gifted with some special wingers in Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres. With Roony Bardghji now stepping up and joining the list, they look comfortable in the department for a long time to come.

The natural conclusion, given the situation, would be to close the doors on the academy players pushing for a move up from the lower categories.

That too, however, appears difficult given the sheer quality of talent in La Masia. One such young talent who has the potential to break through is Dani Rodriguez, but recent times have been difficult for the youngster.

Determined to succeed

As relayed by SPORT in a recent report, Rodriguez is determined to succeed at Barcelona at any cost and is pushing away any offer to leave the club to prove his worth to Hansi Flick.

The youngster currently plays for Barça Atletic in the fourth division of Spanish football, and his quality has seen him attract interest and offers from several teams in higher divisions.

Rodriguez, however, believes that playing in a lower division for Barcelona and pushing for a promotion is superior to joining any other club in a higher division.

Last season, the player caught Flick’s attention and even earned a debut in Barcelona’s game against Real Valladolid. However, he suffered an injury during the same game and has not entered the coach’s plans ever since.

The 20-year-old did not make the cut to join Flick’s pre-season tour, and he has been limited to the B team under Juliano Belletti. He is now a regular for the subsidiary side and is working hard to catch Flick’s eye once more.

Rodriguez will only leave Barcelona if the club explicitly ask him to look for greener pastures, and he retains 100% faith in himself to earn a promotion and see regular minutes with the first team. Only time will tell if his patience and determination will pay off.
