The Baltimore Ravens made a decision many did not expect in firing head coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons with the team.

The Ravens failed to reach the playoffs when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final game of the regular season, with the AFC North title at stake.

Harbaugh, a former defensive back at Miami University who was the Cincinnati Bearcats' special teams coordinator from 1989 to 1996, won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in Feb. 2013.

He led Baltimore to 13 winning seasons between 2008 and 2025.

Harbaugh and the Ravens lost to the Bengals in Baltimore in Week 13, but won in Cincinnati two weeks later. Harbaugh said the Week 15 win was the best the Ravens had played all season.
