Auburn women's basketball capped the nonconference portion of its schedule by taking down Jackson State in a Monday matinee.
A strong 1st quarter, mixed with a trio of double-digit scorers, led the Tigers to a 64-48 victory over Jackson State Monday afternoon at Neville Arena in Auburn.

The host Tigers set the tone early by outscoring Jackson State, 22-12. Auburn head coach Larry Vickers said that the quick start set the bar for the remainder of the game.
“We did an excellent job coming out in the first quarter, not only playing good offense but our defense was solid as well,” Auburn coach Larry Vickers said. “I was happy with our zone offense execution today.”
Ja'Mia Harris led all starters with 12 points on 50% shooting (3-of-6); however, Auburn's bench was responsible for a majority of the offensive production. Mya Petticord and Sania Richardson combined to make six three-pointers and score 33 points. Petticord scored 21 points and was vital at the stripe by making 5-of-6 free throws. She says that her performance in Monday's game was needed before SEC play begins Thursday.
“I felt good during warmups, I was making my shots and that translated to the game," Petticord said postgame. "The coaches and my teammates trust my shot and my scoring ability. I needed that before SEC play.”
