Sacred Heart has won five straight state titles but suffered its first loss of the season to a Kentucky opponent on Friday, falling 65-62 to No. 6 Cooper.

A No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown is set for Thursday, as Assumption will host George Rogers Clark at 8 p.m.

The Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Elite 16 is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released online each Tuesday morning throughout the regular season.

Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
