Assumption is the No. 1 team in the first Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Elite 16 media rankings of the 2025-26 season.
Assumption (8-3) received eight of the 16 first-place votes and is followed by George Rogers Clark (8-1), Sacred Heart (7-3), Calloway County (15-0) and Simon Kenton (13-1) in the top five.

Sacred Heart has won five straight state titles but suffered its first loss of the season to a Kentucky opponent on Friday, falling 65-62 to No. 6 Cooper.
A No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown is set for Thursday, as Assumption will host George Rogers Clark at 8 p.m.
The Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Elite 16 is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released online each Tuesday morning throughout the regular season.
Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
