Are the Detroit Lions playing today? When is matchup vs. Bears

1 week ago 2

The Detroit Lions (8-8) close their 2025 season with a Week 18 trip to Soldier Field to battle rival and the NFC North champion Chicago Bears (11-5).

While there are two Saturday NFL games, the Lions aren't one of them in Week 18. Detroit heads to Chicago on Sunday, Jan. 4 with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox. The Lions won the first meeting between the two teams this season in a romp, 52-21, in Week 2.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff had five touchdown passes in that Week 2 win over the Bears.

With the Lions waiting until Sunday to kick off from Soldier Field, the NFL's Saturday slate begins with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9) hosting the Carolina Panthers (8-8) at 4:30 p.m. ET from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Both the Bucs and Panthers could win the NFC South title with a win depending on what happens between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

If Atlanta beats New Orleans, the Panthers win the NFC South regardless of what happens on Saturday between the Bucs and Panthers.

On Saturday night, the San Francisco 49ers (12-4) host the Seattle Seahawks (13-3) from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., where the winner will capture the NFC West title and the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs.
