Alabama QB Ty Simpson Receives Strong Advice From Crimson Tide Legend

Since the Alabama Crimson Tide were embarrassed by the Indiana Hoosiers and knocked out of the College Football Playoff, rumors have started swirling about the future of quarterback Ty Simpson.

At one point this season, Simpson was trending toward being a top-20 pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. However, his production declined as the season moved forward.

There is still a good chance that Simpson will declare for the draft, but he could choose to return for another season of college football.

Should he choose to come back for another season of college, would he play that season for Alabama? There have been rumblings about Simpson being a sought after option in the NCAA transfer portal. Both the Oregon Ducks and Miami Hurricanes have been talked about as potential destinations.

With that being said, a former Alabama legend at the quarterback position has spoken out with strong advice for Simpson.

During an appearance on "The Dynasty" podcast, three-time national champion A.J. McCarron spoke out with his opinion on the matter. He believes that another year of college football would be the best decision for Simpson to make.

“I think Ty’s gotta come back,” McCarron said. “I think if he enters, he’s a seventh-round...maybe five-to-seven."

McCarron continued forward, doubling down on his career advice.

“I think he has no choice but to come back. If he asked me for advice, I’d say, ‘Brother, you gotta come back,'" he said.

Simpson ended the season completing 64.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns, and five interceptions in his first season as the team's starting quarterback. He also ran for 93 yards and two more scores.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening With Simpson. The Crimson Tide have talented quarterbacks behind him. However, it's a tough decision the young quarterback faces about his future.

If he does decide to enter the NFL Draft this year, he'll be risking a major slide. That being said, he has the talent to be an NFL quarterback and might view this as a great chance for him to make the jump.
