Thompkins is also coming off a 2025 season that featured a career-high 31 tackles, 6.5 TFL, and three sacks.
Coming out of high school, Thompkins was considered as the nation's No. 44 overall edge rusher in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, out of Edison High School in California.
Thompkins, who will be entering his redshirt senior season, now joins an Alabama defensive line unit that is tasked with replacing both Tim Keenan III and LT Overton to the NFL draft, while fellow starter James Smith also recently entered the transfer portal.
The USC transfer will likely be a significant impact player with the Crimson Tide in 2026.
