Ahkeem Mesidor injury: Miami football star hurt, returns vs Ole Miss

5 days ago 1

Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Ahkeem Mesidor suffered an apparent arm injury in the fourth quarter of the Fiesta Bowl against Ole Miss on Jan. 8 in Glendale, Arizona.

During a first-and-goal for Ole Miss, Mesidor, the 6-foot-3, 280-pound senior from Ottawa, Ontario, had an offensive lineman fall on his arm right after the Hurricane was knocked down to the field, onto his stomach.

The play was stopped as Mesidor stayed down. He was later helped off up and gingerly held his right arm to his side as he walked to the medical tent.

But, after Ole Miss' field goal, the Hurricanes scored a touchdown, taking a 24-19 lead. Then, on the ensuing drive, Mesidor was back on the field.

The injury came just a few plays after Miami defensive back Xavier Lucas was ejected after getting flagged for targeting. Fellow defensive lineman Ahmad Moten suffered an injury in the first quarter but later returned to the game. On offense, Miami tight end Elijah Lofton left the game with some kind of an upper body injury on a reception and did not return.
