After a soft-ball introduction to life as Chelsea manager with an FA Cup tie against Charlton, Liam Rosenior is dropped in at the deep end in his second game, with a match against Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
The manager took his pre-match presser last night, and answered some questions about how he saw the game going. One journalist asked him whether it was the biggest game of his managerial career so far.

“People will look at it that way. But I don’t see it that way. I think every session that I take, every meeting that I take, every game that we play is the most important thing. I live in the now,” the manager explained.
“It is the most important game because it’s the next one. I mean that. If you start to prioritise games or think something’s more important than the other, then you’re not focused. I don’t care if it’s a pre-season game. I’m doing it at my maximum. I expect that from whichever group I work with.

“That keeps me calm because I’m happy with the process in which we work as a staff and which the players are taking on. I’m not making it any bigger than the fact it’s the next game and we have to win. That’s the way I see it.”
He will be trying to get that message across to his players – focus on this game, don’t worry about your next game. But sometimes that’s easier said than done.
In other news…
Rosenior has made it clear that his focus in the last few days has been more on attitude than tactics, but one of the players who knows him has spoken about what he’s told his attackers to do.
Chelsea’s wingers were put into a new role last night, and they weren’t able to improve their delivery into the box. They completed 0 crosses between them.
