49ers playoff picture: Who could SF face after loss to Seahawks?

The San Francisco 49ers had a chance to win the NFC West and enter the postseason as the top seed in the conference, but a 13-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium on Saturday ended that dream.

Instead, the 49ers' seed and playoff opponent will be determined by another game during the Week 18 slate on Sunday.

San Francisco is currently the fifth seed in the NFC, and they could stay there if the Arizona Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. In that scenario, the 49ers would take on either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the playoffs.

However, if the Rams win, Kyle Shanahan's team would fall to the sixth seed and take on either the Chicago Bears or the Philadelphia Eagles next week.

A matchup with either of the NFC South teams would be much better for the 49ers than a rematch with the Bears (after barely squeaking out a 42-38 win in Week 17) or a date with the defending Super Bowl champions.
