The San Francisco 49ers have just one more game in their 2025 regular season, as they'll take on the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday in a primetime division battle at Levi's Stadium.
San Francisco has already clinched a playoff spot and could move up to the top seed with a win over Seattle on Saturday, but for some other teams who didn't make the postseason, they'll begin their searches for new head coaches and general managers after this weekend.

The 49ers won't be looking for a new head coach or general manager in this upcoming offseason, but they may have a candidate for the latter position in their front office right now.
On Friday, the MMQB's Albert Breer listed 49ers vice president of player personnel Tariq Ahmed as a "hot name to watch" for future general manager jobs.
"Having gotten his start as a recruiting staffer at Rutgers, Ahmad initially came to the Niners in Jim Harbaugh’s first year and has worked his way up since," Breer wrote. "Most of his experience has been on the college side, but of late he’s split his time on the college trail with also serving in-house on the pro side. A grinder, and a high-capacity, high-level thinker, his level of organization has those around him thinking he’d be a natural running his own shop. He’s one of a few guys who could get looks in the Niners scouting department (senior exec Ethan Waugh is another one, who could be seen in a different light given what the Jaguars team he helped build has done)."
This is Ahmed's first year in his current role after spending two seasons as director of player personnel and three as director of college scouting.

Ahmed will likely get a shot to run a team in the near future, whether that's in 2026 or not remains to be seen.
